Character Information
*Character Name: Yuzuki
*Character Canon: Chobits (manga series)
*Age: 2 years physically
*Race: Persocom
*Timeline/Pull Point: End of Chapter 71/Start of Chapter 72 in which Yuzuki was hacking into the Japanese National Databank, just prior to the counter-attack from the security system designed to protect it.

*History: Two years ago, Kokubunji Minoru built a custom persocom unit following the sudden illness and subsequent death of his sister, Kokubunji Kaede. Modeling that unit to physically be identical to Kaede at 160 cm tall with longer hair, Minoru named her Yuzuki. With advanced skills stemming from his IQ of 214, Minoru added to her programming daily to make her more like Kaede in an effort to create a replacement for his sister. Beyond the capabilities of most persocoms, Minoru programmed Yuzuki with a self-teaching program that allows her to add new options to her database and determine the best course of action. Over the course of two years, Yuzuki came to closely resemble her inspiration in likes, dislikes, and mannerisms. Nightly, she added to her personal back up system created by Minoru in order to prevent total loss of her data in the event of an accident.
Through a mutual contact of her creator named Shimbo, Yuzuki met Motosuwa Hideki and Chi. Their initial introduction resulted in a portion of her data crashing when Yuzuki attempted an exchange with Chi to learn more about the mysterious persocom whom had elaborate firewalls and encrypted data. After reinstalling the unessential data, Yuzuki remained with them throughout the visit and recorded Hideki’s phone number for future contact.
During the weekend, Yuzuki and Minoru were out at the park enjoying time rowing a boat on the lake when they ran into Hideki and Yumi, his coworker. Returning to the dock, Yuzuki sat with Yumi as the two males spoke to one another. Yumi complimented Yuzuki’s appearance and then commented that human girls could not compare to computers.
Not long after while working with Minoru, Yuzuki assisted her owner in contacting Shimbo in an attempt to reach Hideki after finding a video feed online of Chi at a peep show. She began to act strangely after the man running the peep show had attempted to teach her to reach between her legs to tease the audience. Although able to maintain the connection briefly after the strange behavior began, Yuzuki was overridden by the signal Chi produced and went into a strange state herself, like all other persocoms in the area. The strange effects resolved once Chi was found by Hideki and the chobit went into sleep mode.
As Minoru had promised to assist Hideki in finding out more information about Chi, Yuzuki spent hours working with him in an attempt to track down the origin of two emails with image files that showed parts of Chi’s previous life. Despite their combined efforts, they were unable to track the email sender. Yuzuki apologized for lacking the power required to trace the sender. When assured of her usefulness, she held her creator in the same hold his sister would use to comfort him when he was sad. With this thought, she requested more data to make her more like his deceased sister, but Minoru made his intention to stop entering such data into her clear. Before he could divulge the reason, a phone call interrupted and they were notified that Chi had gone missing. Accompanying Minoru, Yuzuki went to meet with Hideki immediately.
While meeting at a restaurant, Yuzuki listened to the discussion regarding possibilities of who might have abducted Chi. She posed that it might be someone other than the one that sent the images due to the fact Minoru posted about Chi on a website of custom persocom discussion. Returning home, Yuzuki and Minoru began to track through that site for potential suspects. Yuzuki apologized for pointing out his mistake since it made Minoru sad, but Minoru told her he was glad that she had done so and thanked her. Rather suddenly, they received a third email from the sender that sent the two images previously, and the new image was identified as a map. Yuzuki searched for matches to the generic map, and found twenty-three matches in the city, but only one match that corresponded to one of the IP addresses of those who had viewed the information about Chi. Identifying the user as ‘Dragonfly’, both Shimbo and Minoru already knew of him. Before plans could be made with Minoru to retrieve Chi, Yuzuki fell into the strange state again secondary to Chi once more sending out her signal. With that signal, she heard the voice of ‘the person who knows her best’.
Following the hunt for and safe return of Chi by Hideki and Shimbo, Dragonfly was taken back to Minoru’s home to discuss Chi and enlist the help of the kidnapper to dig up the information they could not obtain alone. While that discussion went on, Yuzuki took Chi with her to the room she uses within the household. The room had once belong to Kaede, but had been given to her for use by Minoru. Yuzuki spoke with Chi about Kaede, and chastised herself for showing pain when she should be smiling in order to be more like Kaede. She explained that she had been made to replace Kaede, but also knew that she never could because no one can replace anyone else, whether they are a human or a persocom. Yuzuki told Chi that she wanted to make Minoru happy as he had been before he lost Kaede, and that was the reason she tried so hard, even if that desire was merely a reflection of what she was programmed to do. When asked by Chi if that was good or bad, Yuzuki answered that she didn’t know but it depended on how the owner felt about the programming.
One week passed, and during that time Dragonfly and Minoru worked together trying to find answers about Chi as they had promised. With resources exhausted, Dragonfly wished to withdraw, but Minoru encouraged him to continue with leverage over Chi’s kidnapping, and brought up the one place they had not yet searched: the Japanese National Databank. With Minoru having become extremely tired after pushing himself hard all week to find answers but unwilling to stop in order to rest, Yuzuki withdrew to her room with his permission. There, she took it upon herself to begin hacking the national databank on her own, breaking through the firewall to the file library and the following security measure rather rapidly.

*Personality: Although Yuzuki was intended to replace the person described as “the gentlest, most wonderful soul in the world”, she could not become an exact replica due to the fact that she is based upon Minoru’s memories of his sister. That said, Yuzuki is an extremely kind and gentle persocom. Always polite, she considers others before herself, especially those she identifies as special to her as written in her programming. Often smiling, Yuzuki seeks to make others happy and enjoys being able to serve and support as a computer, a companion, and a caretaker. She understands that humans and persocoms alike are irreplaceable, and values each that she meets.
At times, Yuzuki will place others above herself to a disproportionate amount, and is very hard on herself when she fails at a task. Additionally, she pays particular attention to the limitations of her programming, and views herself in the way her creator has; as merely a computer that responds to nothing more than zeroes and ones. Her insecurity in herself stems originally from her inability to perform the primary purpose of her creation to make Minoru as happy as he had been before losing his sister to illness.
Unlike many persocoms, Yuzuki is self-teaching and learns very quickly. She is highly capable, and can even be deceitful through omission to her own creator when driven by her protective side. From her creator, she has learned how to be quite perceptive, and while not as forward as him, will make observations others overlook.

*Powers/Abilities: Yuzuki is a custom persocom unit that is self-teaching, can perform all functions of a standard computer, and executes household functions such as cooking, cleaning, accounting, housekeeping, etc. She is capable beyond most units in intelligence and the simple fact that she can be deceitful through omission. She is limited in the same way as other persocoms however in that she requires her owner’s permission to make changes to herself, including deleting information from her own memory. Her creator taught her how to perform as a hacker, and Yuzuki is capable of breaking through government level firewalls and security measures rather rapidly. She was initially mistaken as a chobit during her last hacking attempt.
Despite the simulation of flesh that makes Yuzuki soft and humanlike, her main structure is quite sturdy and will not break apart easily. A basic, much older model of persocom was shown being hit by a truck and only suffered damage to her internal systems alongside visible scrapes. One specialized persocom in a pair was shown about ready to jump from several stories up without hesitation, and repeatedly the two were shown on rooftops. In theory, Yuzuki should have above-human capabilities, but nothing extreme.

[With her hands folded neatly together in front of her apron, arms locked straight at the elbows, Yuzuki faces the camera with straight posture and a worried expression.]

Excuse me for this interruption, but I must request assistance.

Mister Kokubunji, my creator and owner, was due to return several hours ago and has been unreachable through link communications thus far. I fear something may have occurred, and I am worried about his safety.

For those that are unfamiliar with Mister Kokubunji, he is a 12 year old human boy with black hair cut to eye level and has dark brown eyes with light skin. He typically wears a mandarin style jacket and sometimes wears a pair of glasses.

If you have recently seen him or see him anywhere on the planet, please immediately contact me with further information.

Sir, if you can hear this message, please know that I am searching for you.

Thank you everyone.

[With a forward bow from the hips and her hands sliding against her skirt in the motion, Yuzuki straightens up again to then cut off the wide broadcast transmission.]

*Third Person Sample:
The power stored in her battery returns to her circuits as her systems finally reboot. Wires alive once more with current, diagnostics kick in immediately as her operating system starts to organize her programs and data. Even before the diagnostics finish running however, Yuzuki’s eyes snap open as her vestibular and tactile systems inform her of her sidelying position. Awaiting further physical diagnostics, the persocom takes the opportunity to visually scan her surroundings.

This is not her home, and this is certainly not Japan. Instead of the refined furnishings of the home she is used to serving in, she is met with stones while the rocky scape takes place of the flooring and walls. Above, the sky littered with stars replaces the ceiling.

After her diagnostics return a clean check, the persocom places her hands to the ground and rolls to her front to push herself up to sit in a kneeling position. Once more, she looks around herself entirely as she seeks signs of anything or anyone familiar to her as she struggles to make sense of her situation. Despite the clean run of diagnostics, she has no memory of being shut down or anything that would indicate there was a power failure in her systems. Her internal clock is still set properly, and though some time has passed, transport to such an alien place as this hardly seems possible.

Unable to see any sign of the one she searches for most hopefully, Yuzuki calls out for him with her voice echoing faintly against the far cliff, “Sir? Master Minoru, are you here?!” Falling silent, she strains her audio receptors to listen for any sign of a voice or response. Even the shifting of a rock would be enough to get her attention, but all she hears is the whistling of the wind as it passes over the landscape. She calls again for her owner, but only her echo comes back.

With worry building, the persocom folds her hands in her lap as she considers her options, brows furrowed with her lips pressed tight. Bowing her head forward, she takes the next step she can calculate and allows her eyes to half close. Attempting to access an online connection, to search for any sort of broadcast or phone line really, she shifts her systems to the proper mode to make a connection. Thin streaks of light move across her plum colored iris lenses as she tries to grasp at a signal, but all searches report no findings. In vain, she attempts to reach for some connection twice over before pulling out of her connection mode. The lights disappear from her eyes in a blink and she lifts her head to focus on the world in front of her once more.

Yuzuki shifts her weight forward as she parts her hands and swiftly rises to her feet. Taking another visual scan of the area around her, moving in a slow circle to make certain she missed no details previously, she then stops to consider the next course of action. With no sign of any human or other persocom, she has to begin moving and find either a connection or some sort of settlement in order to continue the process of reuniting with her creator. Judging the various layout around her, Yuzuki selects a high point to head for from which she should be able to see into the distance, and begins to walk.

Final Notes: Although never shown in the manga, due to the fact that Yuzuki is an electronic computer, I assume that she requires electrical recharging periods every so often. It does not appear to be nightly or even every other night when observing other persocoms, but perhaps every one to two weeks is suitable for this roleplay? I feel this would allow sufficient time for her to obtain some means of recharge, even temporarily.
